NCPA Championships Apr 12, 2008

The NCPA championships were held April 18-20 in Lakeland, FL. Friday was the beginning of Xball, or class A. These were qualifier rounds for Saturday's games. Great weather with the sun out all day.

ncpa_gameBy far, the best game of the day was University of California Irvine vs Yukon, the defending champs. UCI ended up taking that game, sending Yukon home. The last game of the day was Ohio University pounding down Purdue, which was another upset in a penalty ridden match.

The two top teams from last year were both sent home on Saturday: Yukon and Penn State. Penn State was taken out by Illinois State (who happen to be shooting JT's Fluid Abyss paint). Illinios State said that Abyss is one of the biggest reasons why they were on top at the end of the day.

ncpa_champsIllinois State, UC Irvine, University of Illinois, and Ohio University all moved on to the semi-finals on Sunday. The ISU Redbirds beat Ohio 12-5 and UCI beat the Illini in a match that was closer than the score shows. In the final match the Redbirds squeaked by the UCI Anteaters 7-6.

In the AA 5-man tournament Cal State Long Beach edged out Virginia Tech in the finals. And in the high school 3-man games the Coral Glades High Vipers trounced Pulaski Academy.
